Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key), is a Japanese technique for reduction of stress and relaxation that promotes healing. Reiki was developed in 1922 by a Japanese Buddhist, using a technique commonly called “palm healing”. While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is NOT a religion or something you must believe in for it to work. Reiki is not dependant on belief at all in fact, it will work whether you believe in it or not. 
Children that benefit greatly from Reiki are those diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. Their hyperactivity is sometimes too much. They are often labeled as being “disruptive” or “naughty”, which is not the case at all they just have too much energy built up in them. They do however seem to have less of an attention span, lacking concentration and impulsive behaviors, restlessness. The most common medications for ADD/ADHD are Ritalin and Dexedrine, while these medications may be good for some children; they come with a very serious range of side effects, we highly believe that Reiki can help as well.
Reiki is also a very effective treatment for children with Autism and Asperger's. Reiki is not a cure, however an alternative treatment by eliminating some major issues in sensitive children. Reiki produces an overall calming effect without the use of drugs, also without interfering with conventional or other alternative treatments.
Reiki is a non-invasive therapy to treat a wide range of issues. It is safe and painless for the child. It is a very relaxing experience. It is based on the idea that all living things have a special energy flowing throughout the body called life-energy. When your “life-energy” is high you will feel confident, stronger emotionally and mentally, be more relaxed and centers. When your “life energy” is low you will often feel tired and more easily affected by stress.
